A Baker's Fall Checklist to Prepare for a Cozy Season

As the leaves start to turn and the air gets crisp,
it's time to prepare home for the changing season. Fall brings a host of home maintenance tasks, but it also ushers in a time for cozy gatherings, festive celebrations, and moments of quiet reflection. 

My checklist of items is usually tapped around the house. Everything from doctors visits, to family tasks, to donation bin and house-cleaning items. The list for my husband, and the checkins with the kids and grandkids. Getting those gift cards, presents, and even treats ahead can make for an easy going enjoyable fall. 

Here is a shortlist of general items I might have in my lists;

Home
Clean gutters and downspouts.
Prevent ice dams and water damage.
Have heating system inspected.
Ensure it's working safely and efficiently.
Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Replace batteries and ensure they are functioning properly.
Health
Schedule your flu shot.
Protect yourself and your loved ones.
Clean out your medicine cabinet.
Dispose of expired medications safely.
Family
Plan a fall get-together.
Dozen cookies on a plate, breads
Send birthday wishes to fall celebrants. Trays, special gourmet treats like brownies on off-days (birthday is Wednesday but celebrated on Saturday)
Offer words of encouragement to students.
A treat goes a long way to get them excited!
Community
Plan a neighborhood potluck or gathering.
Medium trays, assortments and packages of cookies with iced cut out to make festive
Check in on elderly neighbors or those who may need assistance.
Nut roll, breads, and their favorite cookie is a good way to go over the top
Pantry
Stock up on gourmet cookies and pastries.
Gifting, gatherings, or cozy moments can be prepped ahead by freezing.
Pre-order fall-themed treats.
